Adversity affects one's personal emotions and family relationships. The "Jockey Club Family Emotional Resilience Project" aims to provide three levels of preventive services from 2020 to 2022, using evidence-based approaches to assist participants in enhancing their personal and family emotional resilience.
This project is based on the core theoretical foundation of "Emotional Resilience" and utilizes evidence-based and effective cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention models to assist families experiencing emotional distress. Parents with preschool and SEN children face different pressures, such as parent-child relationships, financial pressure, child development, and marital relationships. These pressures can easily lead to negative emotions and family conflicts, ultimately affecting the emotional well-being and development of children.
In February 2022, the Heep Hong Society collaborated with Professor Wong Fu Keung from Hong Kong Baptist University to develop an evidence-based counseling tool with cognitive-behavioral therapy, aiming to assist parents of preschool children in managing their emotions and reducing the stress and negative emotions associated with childcare.
The results show that CBT has significant effectiveness in helping parents cope with stress and maintaining a positive and proactive attitude when facing various challenges. Helping couples facing and dealing with difficulties encountered in marriage is important in family services. To assist newlywed couples in entering marriage and adapting to different stages of married life, the Marriage +: From Me to We" ebook was launched by Caritas Family Service in September.
The Jockey Club Smart Family-link Project, which is initiated and funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, collaborated with the Baptist University of Hong Kong to assess the effectiveness of “Marriage +” as a digital intervention in influencing marital relationships.
The study revealed that this four-section self-help guide significantly enhances satisfaction among couples, providing them with time-efficient and low-intensity digital tools to navigate the challenges. While males exhibited heightened awareness of their wives' active contributions in sharing responsibilities, the study found a notable increase in female’s employment of emotional regulation strategies. 【Read more】
