Emotional resilience refers to a person's ability and interpersonal resources to cope with adversity, stress or difficulty. It involves resilience in coping with difficult situations and recovering from negative emotions. Emotional resilience is not about avoiding or suppressing negative emotions but rather about effectively utilizing personal and interpersonal resources to manage and cope with these emotions.
The Social Ecological Resilience Scale (SERS) is an empirically researched and published emotional assessment questionnaire that emphasizes protective factors, including emotional flexibility, coping abilities, self-compassion, common humanity, family support, and social support. Individuals can assess their current level of emotional resilience through the free online tool and receive suggestions as well as information on available resources.
