Au Yeung Tsz Yau, Connie (R.S.W., M.S.W., H.K.) is currently working on youth-at-risk service and oversee the Project “Begin from Family” at the Youth Crime Prevention Centre, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Her areas of interest include family and youth services, juvenile delinquency, mental health and drug service. Miss Au Yeung has always devoted her effort to provide counseling, anti-drug education and crime prevention service to the high-risk children and youth, as well as providing support to their parents and caregivers.
In this seminar, Miss Au Yeung will talk about a territory-wide project “Begin from Family”, which has been funded by Beat Drugs Fund since April 2017. The Project adopts the full set of “Strengthening Families Program” originated in the United States, which is an evidence-based, highly structured family skills training program and a proven approach to prevent young people from committing deviant and drug-taking behaviors. The Project aims at enhancing parenting skills and family functioning, so as to minimize the risks of having delinquent, criminal and drug-taking problems among the youth-at-risk. Various counseling materials, namely Training Manuals, Resource Kits, Educational Videos, and Virtual Reality Video, etc have been developed throughout the past seven years,. The use of Information and Communication Technologies in the service will also be highlighted in this seminar.
