Every child has a right to protection against any forms of harm and exploitation. Anyone who comes into contact with a child in the course of his or her work, regardless of sector, must make use of his or her expertise to safeguard the best interests of the child. When children are harmed, personnel from different sectors should work together to ensure that children are properly protected and cared for. The Social Welfare Department has, in collaboration with relevant government departments, non-governmental organisations and professionals, drawn up a procedural guide for reference by different professionals in taking necessary actions for suspected child maltreatment cases.
